Ramadan Mubarak! We are currently in the first week of Ramadan 2023 and it has been a lot of iftars, suhoors, and prayers for me and my family. Ramadan for me is a time to reset my intentions for the year, get closer to God, and focus on the inner work that I need to do.
However, we still need to run around and do our daily tasks. For me, when I look my best, I feel my best. So for me, I like to pare down my beauty routine, but I definitely don’t eliminate it altogether. Here is my pared-down beauty routine during Ramadan:
Morning Ramadan Skincare Routine
I wake up at 4:30 AM to prepare suhoor (predawn meal) for me and my family. Since I have to do school dropoff, I prepare my skin as if I am just getting up and ready for the day. I know my skincare routine will seem like a lot, but I focus on keeping my skin hydrated and skin barrier healthy. So there is a lot of emphasis on adding moisture and locking it in with skincare
I do a quick face wash with Amore Pacific Enzyme Cleaner. I follow with Peach and Lily Wild Dew Treatment, their Glass Skin Refining Serum, and Rhode Skincare Barrier Restore Cream which I top off with Kadalys Radiance Precious Oil.
After I eat suhoor with my family, I go back to doing a quick makeup routine so that I can drop off my kids.

Since my focus is on inner work, I don’t use as much makeup as I usually do. I even out my skin with Ami Cole (a Muslim-owned brand!) Skin Tint in Medium 2. I fill out sparse parts of my brows with E.L.F. Wow Brow Gel. I add the Satin Sheen Multistick in Minxy on my cheeks. I add Glosshood Holyyy Gloss on my lips to ensure my lips stay nice and hydrated.
And that’s it until iftar! Then after the Maghreb prayer, I do my evening skincare routine.
Evening Ramadan Skincare Routine
I wash my face with Tatcha The Deep Cleanse and then follow up again with Amore Pacific Enzyme Cleaner. I follow again with Peach and Lily Wild Dew Treatment. Then I typically use Shani Darden Retinol Reform and layer it with Rhode Skincare Barrier Restore Cream and M-61 Hydroboost Face Oil.
I then finish by doing my Isha and Taraweeh prayers. I hope that all of our Muslim mavens have a blessed Ramadan! Stay tuned for my Eid beauty routine coming soon.
