As a busy mom with a business, it is easy to forget to take time to feed my spirit. However, I have a few tips to make the most of the last ten nights of Ramadan. Here are some tips I have learned that will make this the most rewarding time of year if you practice Islam.
Set Up A Space For Prayer
I have set up a beautiful space in my room to encourage me to do extra prayers during those Ramadan nights. It has a corner for a padded prayer rug, beautiful dhikr beads, and a stunning Quran so I can worship while my kids sleep.
Automate Your Charitable Giving
Since I am a busy mom with a lot on my plate, I try to make my life easier where I can.
I use MyTenNights, so I know I won’t miss out on giving to charity. Once you set it up with a daily donation amount, it is easy to know you won’t miss out on the countless blessings during the last ten days of Ramadan.
Get Involved In The Community
I use the last ten nights of Ramadan to assist my community. Sometimes it looks like giving out water to people after prayer, offering to clean up after the iftar, or helping wrap gifts for underprivileged children. When anyone asks me for help, I try to make the time to give back.
Get Your Kids Involved
During these last ten nights, I have my kids help where they can, even at home. For example, they help me set the iftar table and also help clean up after the evening prayer, known as maghrib. They have also helped with a toy drive for underprivileged kids.
Remember Time Is Valuable
Instead of wasting my time scrolling, I set a timer on my phone so that I can scroll for a bit to decompress, but then I move on. Ramadan is a special time of year, but it goes by too fast. Having the privilege to witness another Ramadan is a blessing that I am grateful for. I hope all of my Muslim community is also enjoying the sweetness of this time and these tips inspire you.
